The car was packed Friday evening and we woke with the baby at 8am in a bit of a panic because this was, for the first time, and hour later than she normally wakes, of course! Out the door by 9am, arrived in Bordeaux at brunch o’clock - we might make this a regular thing, the pancakes and coffee were worth it

Or… a guilt-free Christmas! There’s nothing like a fuzzy Christmas jumper to hide the multiple glasses of eggnog and a huge Christmas lunch. The holiday season just seems ‘right’ in the Northern Hemisphere. Despite my only previous experience of enjoying the holidays in the height of summer, I have fully indulged in the ‘cosy’ Christmas experience.

At the beginning of winter when the geese said goodbye to their French summer and flew south for the winter, it was a truly depressing sight. To see the birds spreading their wings and taking flight to new adventures and warmer weather drew obvious contrast to our own situation of very much staying put! Of sticking it out through our first winter in 3 years.
